The Poconos is a mountainous region of about 2,400 mi² / 6,200 km² in northeastern Pennsylvania that has long been a popular destination for honeymooners. This vast recreational area offers visitors plenty to see and do year-round. The scenery is amazing with wooded peaks and valleys, streams, rushing rivers, 18 beautiful waterfalls, and around 150 sparkling lakes including Lake Wallenpaupack with 52 miles of uninterrupted shoreline. Vacationers can experience skiing, snowmobiling, whitewater rafting, canoeing, boating, fishing, hiking, hunting, biking, golfing, eagle watching . . . the list goes on. Couples also enjoy the museums and galleries or taking in a play or concert in the area. Instructional outings at a recreational cooking school make for a unique experience as well. The Pocono Mountains are a great destination for outdoor enthusiasts.
