Lake Tahoe is a large freshwater lake in the Sierra Nevada mountains of the United States. It is located along the border between California and Carson City, Nevada. Geography/Environment
Lake Tahoe is located along the border of California and Nevada. About one-third of the basin is in Nevada and two-thirds is in California. The basin is bounded by the Sierra Nevada to the west and the Carson Range to the east.
Lake Tahoe is admired for its great depth and clarity and beautiful alpine surroundings. Most of the terrain is mountainous, limiting development mainly to relatively flat lying areas along tributary streams.

Marriage license requirements for your Lake Tahoe wedding will be different, depending on which state you get married in. In California, many chapels will issue marriage licenses on premises, but in Nevada, you have to go to the court house.
