Lake Tahoe is located along the border of California and Nevada. About one-third of the basin is in Nevada and two-thirds is in California. The basin is bounded by the Sierra Nevada to the west and the Carson Range to the east.

When planning your Lake Tahoe wedding, first decide where you want to have it - North Lake Tahoe or South Lake Tahoe? In California or Nevada? Marriage license requirements for your Lake Tahoe wedding will be different, depending on which state you get married in. In California, many chapels will issue marriage licenses on premises, but in Nevada, you have to go to the court house. In either state, be sure you know the requirements and bring the proper paperwork:
