Australia surrounds honeymooners with natural beauty and excitement. Australia is vast, almost double the size of Europe, and the landscape varies from endless sun baked horizons, to dense tropical rainforests, to amazing beaches. Its cities, scattered along the coasts, blend a European enthusiasm for art and food with a laid-back love of sport and the outdoors. In Australia your options range from exploring pulsating cities, the outback or the amazing underwater world of the Great Barrier Reef . . . an amazing place to enjoy with the love of your life on your honeymoon.

Highlights
What to do in Australia? Sail, snorkel and dive in the world’s largest coral reef system, surf some of the many reputable surf beaches, swim with dolphins, visit vineyards with great wine, observe penguins or sea lions on some of Australia’s islands, enjoy world class bushwalks and hikes through the rainforest, discover the Twelve Apostles giant majestic rock stacks, take a scenic flight over the Flinders Ranges, try out bridge climbing on Sydney’s famous Harbor Bridge, cast your eyes on the intriguing Bungle Bungles, discover the rich Aboriginal culture and don’t forget to check out Australia’s outback. Australia is known as an adventurer's playground, but if you'd prefer relaxation, you can do that too. There are many island resorts and miles of coastline where you can pitch a blanket and enjoy the beautiful scenery.
Geography/Environment
Australia is the smallest continent in the world, but the sixth largest country and the only country occupying a whole continent. Three quarters of its land mass, lies in the Outback which has some of the Earth's most unusual scenery. This island nation is surrounded by several seas and the Indian Ocean. Its coastline measures approximately 23,000 miles. It extends for about 2500 miles from east to west and 2300 miles from north to south.
Activities
This island continent is misleading in that many people assume that it's the size of islands in the Caribbean. It's actually about the size of the U.S. Therefore, you need to pick a destination and stick with it. You can tour the rain forest and Barrier Reef in the north or experience the culture and beauty of Sydney and New South Wales, in the southwest. If you want to rough it, there's no better place than the Outback. While you're there, explore the mystery or Uluru. Overall, there are many special interest activities to choose from. Here is just a small sample of some of the things you can do... 4-wheel driving in the Outback, snorkeling, diving, bungy jumping, whale and dolphin watching, horseback riding, bushwalking, ballooning, snow skiing, camel trekking, cruising, cycling, fishing, golfing, wine tasting, and shopping. Whatever you choose to do, any of these adventures will give you a lot of stories to tell when you get home.
Climate and Weather
The Australian climate varies but has few extremes. It ranges from tropical in the north to average in the south. Because Australia is in the southern hemisphere, seasons there are the reverse of those in the northern hemisphere. The tropical region essentially has only two seasons: a hot, wet period with rains falling mainly in February and March and a hot, dry period. The more temperate regions of southern Australia have four seasons, with cool winters and warm summers. January and February are the warmest months, with average temperatures varying between 65ºF and 70ºF. June and July are the coldest months, with an average July temperature of about 50ºF. In the Australian Alps, where temperatures average 35ºF in southern New South Wales and the northern part of Victoria, snowfall is occasionally heavy.

Australia-not just koalas
by Donna Evans last updated on 03/02/2009
Have you ever held a koala? They are just as cuddly as they look, passive and docile. Have you ever fed a kangaroo? They may be a little timid as first, but when they see the food, temptation usually wins. Of course these experiences are not available...

Tasmania

Tasmania sits below Australia on an island all its own. While it is not a honeymoon beach destination, there are amazing beaches on the Frecinet peninsula, as well as exceptional wine and food. The half moon shape of Wineglass Bay is ranked as one of...
